As we mentioned in our presentation, we are always looking to encourage students to take part in our events. Last year, we had 3 aspiring photographers, 4 students helping with the setup and public guidance and one student being no less than the MC.
This year, Rish Aiyer, a student at Nibras International School and aspiring journalist, attended The 4th Education Fair and wrote about it. Please read below his piece, that we didn’t have to make any significant amendments.
Against the backdrop of the lush green grass and the majestic horses at the Al Habtoor Resort and Polo Club, The 4th Edition of the Education Fair took place on Friday, the 20th of May, with over a dozen different institutions from various spheres of the educational field in attendance.
Started four years ago with the vision to bridge the gap between parents and educational institutions, the event has taken off to new heights. The past year saw the organisers, Education&Afterschool and Strawberry Events, launching a first of its kind website in the UAE that allows parents to find educational institutions near where they live, an invaluable resource for newcomers trying to get acquainted with Dubai.
The fair, which this year targeted the Dubailand area, one of the fasting developing areas of the city, was a one of a kind event. The institutions in attendance were amongst the best in Dubai. Schools such Kings, rated “Outstanding” by the KHDA and the Swiss International Scientific School, the only school to provide a Bilingual, IB program from K-12 in the UAE, and Nibras International School, the only American-curriculum school in the Jebal Ali area were at the fair, allowing parents direct engagement with industry leaders.
On the afterschool side, parents were spoilt for choice. One could find The Study Room, a unique, academically-focused institution at the forefront of education technology, Brooklyn Melodies, the leading performing arts institution in Dubai, or The Tutoring Center, the Dubai branch of an American organisation that provides academic support and enrichment to hundreds of children in the UAE.
One of the defining features of this fair compared to others was its more intimate setting, which allowed parents to better engage with educators as well as to allow networking between the institutions themselves, something that is impossible to do amid the bustle of the larger fairs in the city. However, what truly set this fair apart from any competition was the afternoon music performance, which saw students from Brooklyn Melodies and Nibras International School showcasing their musical talents, giving the fair a wonderfully joyous and social ambience.
Despite being a relatively new company, Education&Afterschool has no intention of staying that way. With help from its partner, Strawberry Events, plans include expanding the fair to encompass more of the city as well as to increase the frequency of the fair.
With the strong success of this year’s fair and the companies visionary ambitions, Education&Afterschool is one of the most beneficial companies for parents trying to navigate all of Dubai’s offerings.
