Kent College Dubai opened its doors in August 2016 with a vision to provide high-quality, British curriculum education to all its pupils.

A coeducational day school for 3-18 year olds – with all year groups barring Year 11 and 13 operating from day one – Kent College Dubai shares the values and ethos of its well-established UK sister school, Kent College Canterbury. This background of over 130 years of educational excellence has been transported to the UAE in what is a genuine, strong and active link: sharing of best practice and pupil and teacher exchanges are already taking place. Both schools share an emphasis on pastoral care whereby welfare is the highest priority and pupils enjoy a vast support network.

This background of over 130 years of educational excellence has been transported to the UAE in what is a genuine, strong and active link: sharing of best practice and pupil and teacher exchanges are already taking place. Both schools share an emphasis on pastoral care whereby welfare is the highest priority and pupils enjoy a vast support network, in the first instance from their from tutor. The Dubai school enjoys state-of-the-art facilities including 4G pitches, a 25 metre swimming pool, a 458 seater auditorium and fantastically equipped labs and classrooms. Kent College is a ‘Google school’ whereby pupils use Chromebooks to complete assignments and work collaboratively, and there are never more than 20 pupils per class. Indeed a real strength of the school is the individual attention which each child receives in order to fulfil their potential. In its opening year, the enthusiastic and dedicated teachers and excited new pupils alike took time to develop their KCD learner profile, a set of values and attributes that the whole school community of parents, pupils and teachers are encouraged to adopt. This is just one way in which the school has become so welcoming and family-orientated so quickly. Further to this, the extensive extra-curricular programme varying from ‘cooking without fire’ to salsa dancing, with which all pupils are required to engage, is also opened to the wider community, and, adding to the family-feel, siblings are placed in the same house. There are four houses – Augustine, Becket, Chaucer and Marlowe – all of which are the same as in Canterbury and are named after some of the city’s most famous historical personalities. Pupils compete in a fair and friendly nature in academic, sporting and artistic pursuits within their houses and this incentive to achieve is already driving a great success. With these fantastic achievements both in and outside the classroom, this growing school has an incredibly exciting and successful future ahead.
